As we enter the holiday season, I want to remind everyone of all the wonderful Children’s RE events we have to look forward to.
First, I’d like to thank the dedicated volunteers who helped make our fall events possible. Rayven Holmes, for another fun Trunk or Treat. And Allison Black and Brandy Bergenstock, for their help with the youth lock-in.
Coming up, on December 5th, we have our annual Festival of the Season event. This year we’ve added an extra special treat, Breakfast with Santa! The breakfast will begin at 9:00, but families are encouraged to arrive at 8:30 for pictures with Santa. Starting at 12:00 we’ll have a potluck, crafts, tree-trimming, and our popular RE Gift store. Please bring your gently used items for the RE Gift to my office or the back RE room by December 5th. A big thank you to our Navigator’s group, for setting up the store this year. We have the added benefit of combining this year’s event with the fall yard clean up. So, if you come early for pancakes, bring a rake!
Once again, we’ll have two services on Christmas Eve. Our 5:00 pm Christmas pageant is based on the story, The Friendly Beasts. The children will be dressed as animals and those who can read will have a few speaking parts. Please let me know if your children are interested in being in the Christmas pageant. Our 7:00 pm service will be a traditional sharing of readings and carols. Both services will end with a passing of the flame.
Looking ahead to January, we will have a combined Adult RE and Children’s RE teacher appreciation dinner on January 23rd. Then on January 29-30 we’ll have our second youth lock-in for the year.
As you can see, there are lots of things to look forward to in RE.
And don’t forget to add your leaf of gratitude to the Spirit Play children’s Gratitude Tree.
See you in the RE!
