I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays and I look forward to the new year. We have several new things about to begin. Our Fellowship Friends program will have sign ups on Jan. 5th and 12th. The letter exchange will begin on Jan. 19th.

We will get back to having our monthly Youth Group meetings. However since the first Wednesday is on the 1st, we will hold January’s meeting on the 8th at 6:30pm. Rev. Andrew will lead a New Year’s ritual.

Also starting up in January will be the Coming of Age Program. We will have the opening orientation with parents and students on Sunday the 12th after second service.

Each year we hold a teacher appreciation dinner mid-way through the year. This year it will be held on January 25th at 6:00pm. This is a nice time to come together and celebrate the work that we’ve done so far. Food and drinks will be provided and volunteers are welcome to bring a guest. Child care will be provided on request.

From the Christmas Season, I’d like to report that the RE Gift store took in just under $300 in December. This money will be split between Guest at Your Table and The Boys and Girls Club. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the shop and for those who purchased items.

Also, I would like to thank the Briede’s for donating the new Christmas tree. It really filled the space nicely and was fun to decorate. The Festival of the Season was a big hit this year especially with stories by Rosalee, Beading by Alicia, wrapping by Nicole and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Thanks to the RE Committee and Rev. Andrew for help with planning and facilitating the event.

In an effort to clarify the details of child care at the Fellowship, the RE Committee has been working on a Child care Policy this year. It will give guidelines on how to arrange for child care for Board sponsored events and Committee sponsored events. It will outline the expectations of the parents and children, the caregivers and child care coordinator and the church and Committee chairs. We hope to get this voted on in January.

Also in the works is a policy on Allergies. Sandra Engelhardt, Selena Hagstrom and I are researching other church’s policies to draft our own. The policy will address environmental issues and food allergies. It will focus on food sensitivities. The goal will be to come up with guidelines that help us to be a more inclusive community which provides safe spaces for our members and friends with allergy concerns.
