by Meg Glenn-Albiez
This is your opportunity to do some good for less fortunate folks AND see if Lenny Schneider and Meg Glenn-Albiez can be trained!!
On December 14th from 9am until 4pm a non-perishable food collection will take place at the new Denbigh Community Center. (15198 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608) The food will be distributed to families who may not have much for the holiday season. The Denbigh Community Center is on Warwick, about a half mile north of Beechmont.
What does that have to do with Lenny and Meg getting trained? Lenny and Meg took Citizen’s Emergency Response Training (CERT) in Newport News. One of the things they could be asked to do if a disaster happened is to help at a Point of Distribution (POD) Center, which is a place where folks could get water, food, etc. during the disaster. So, they are participating in a reverse POD training exercise. We will be collecting food stuffs using procedures similar to those that would be used if we were distributing food and water.
So, bring canned and other non-perishable food to the Denbigh Community Center and observe Lenny and Meg in action! Or see the trainer pulling her hair out…
