Welcome  to the UUFP Adult Religious Education

When: Sunday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  
September 1st -TED talk “The Interspecies Internet? An idea in Progress”
Apes, dolphins and elephants are animals with remarkable communication skills. 
Could the internet be expanded to include sentient species like them? 
A new and developing idea from a panel of four great thinkers — dolphin researcher Diana Reiss, musician Peter Gabriel, internet of things visionary Neil Gershenfeld and Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the internet.
September 8th- Dr. Trevor Hoag will present “Philosophies of Mourning & Grief”
Religious and philosophical studies supply us with strategies for mourning and grieving.  
However, mourning/grieving are often neglected or spurned in our culture.  
September 15th- October 13th Bob Smith & Dennis Shaw will present a 5 week presentation exploring the topic of religion.
  • 9/15-“Religion-Its Meaning and Importance”
UU’s knowledge of religion.  Religion deals with the fundamental questions of human existence: Who am I? Is there a God or an ultimate reality?
Why is there evil in the world? How should I live? Understanding religion helps us to better understand ourselves.
  • 9/22-“Facets of Religion-Divinity & Devotion”
Themes that nearly all religions address: the concept of divinity or ultimate reality, scripture, ritual, understandings of good and evil, and the idea of salvation or liberation.
Many forms of ethics that focus on rightness and wrongness.

Reasons for certainty and doubt.
Important rituals in your life.  
How do we explain evil in the world?
