Full-time ministry, a second building to serve pastoral and program needs, and a steadily growing congregation. For the past decade change has been unrelenting at the UU Fellowship of the Peninsula.
Something else has changed dramatically: Our modes of communication.
We are served by a network of channels. Really.
The weekly Digest that arrives via e-mail Friday provides announcements and announces the Sunday sermon topic. Website uufp.org is our portal on Hampton Roads and the world, a space where people can find us and we in turn can spread our good news. UUPF also has a Facebook page. And there is The Flame, the monthly e-newsletter that offers longer-form articles and commentaries.
Change is here again. The Flame is migrating to our blog site uufp.wordpress.com. This latest move is not intended to disrupt reader habits, but instead encourage engagement. The blog has a “comments” tab that encourages feedback.
This month I assume the role of communications chairman. Thank you Ken Goodrich for wonderful stewardship of this evolving network.
The team that produces the components – Digest, website, Flame and blog – wants the pieces to complement, not duplicate each other so they can all serve the congregation well.
